Rez of the Week – Brigantia

Brigantia came to use awhile back when his brother, Greydune, joined guild.  He’s a casual player but a great addition to the healing team.  Brig is funny and always ready with his quick wit to lighten a mood (especially mine).  He’s been a great addition to the team when he gets some free time to join us and makes raiding much more fun for all those around him.

Without further ado…

Name: Brigantia
Class: Priest

Where are you from: Ironforge? Sacramento?

Would you consider yourself… hardcore
Only if by “hard” you mean tough as a Peep that was left on the counter for too long, and by “core” you mean the small place deep underneath my many layers of personal insecurity.

Main Raid Spec / Dual Spec: Discipline / Shadow

What do you use your offspec for
Originally it was for doing the mind control for that one boss in Naxx, then I just stuck with it because I had the gear and dailies were sometimes easier as shadow.

How long have you been playing
Since 2004.

What about WoW keeps you coming back
In-game pets, mostly.

Why do you continue to raid with me (Xeonio) knowing you will get yelled at?
Because, like an abused spouse, sometimes there’s faint praise that makes me all giddy and willing to put up with an extra helping of the yelling.

Has WoW taught you anything you’ve applied to IRL
The game isn’t important, but the people you choose to play with are. In all the good and bad ways.

If you had to reroll…
Would you choose the same thing: Probably not. I’d work on my mage.
Why: Healers have the hardest job in the game and get blamed for everything that goes wrong. Tank dies? Healers’ fault. DPS dies? Healers’ fault. Healer dies? It’s his own damn fault. The raid can survive and succeed (most of the time) if a DPSer is killed or not quite at the top of their game because they’re distracted by someone with their head between their legs (or… um… whatever…), but it’s really not an option for the healers. There’s tremendous pressure that can make the game unfun at times.

Best Raid Moment
Getting the “Undying” achievement.

Favorite Raid Mod
Bejeweled.

Bosses…
Hardest: Mimron on Hard Mode.
Easiest: Patchwerk
Favorite: Princess in Elwynn forest. Yes, I mean the pig. She’s an elite boss with adds and everything, dammit! And it’s very satisfying taking out a boss when you’re that level.

What Food / Flasks do you use
Dry roasted peanuts, spiced apple cider (in the fall) with a shot of Calvados, water… Oh. Mana regen fish I make someone farm for me (unless there’s a free Fish Feast laying around) and Flasks of the Frost Wyrm.

Macros
I have one that summons a random pet. I have another that whispers people when I hit them with Power Infusion. The first one is my favorite.

Rotation
Always go clockwise. Widdershins just gets you into trouble.

What resources do you use to stay current on your class: Xeo

Any tips for playing your class
Set expectations low so that people are more impressed when you keep them alive and the raid succeeds.

If you could be any mythical creature, What would it be: Valkyrie
Why: You get to fly around on winged horses, you get cool armor, you get to slay the unrighteous, and you get to lift warrior onto your lap and ride them off to Valhalla (which has GOT to be a euphemism for something dirty).

Loved the list of the real raid foods. What a good idea for future rezzes.

I lol’d at setting low expectations.

And personally, I’d rather be a healer than a dps. Healers don’t get yelled at…as much. However, we can’t take random potty breaks in the middle of fights like the dps can without getting caught because someone will die.

Healers don’t get yelled at much in Xeo’s raids. I’m extremely proud to be a part of such a talented heal-team. That being said, even the most non-accusatory “what happened there?” in the healer channel when it’s obvious that the wipe was a healer mistake can make me feel like I failed.

We also have the best channel ever. DPS, you are not invited.
