Mountain o’ Mounts (35/100)

June 17, 2009

If you’ve been reading along I’ve been extremely casually working on my mounts count.  Slowly building up to that 100/100 achievement and the Dragonhawk that comes with it.

I’ve also taken a break from Baron Rivendouche to work on the home cities mounts.  I’ve started doing old quests to get that easy rep and my Argent Tournament dailies.

I hate jousting.

Aside from that there’s been the spending of a bit of cash to buy a few of the mounts.  I’ve bought the slow speed gryphons, I never had any of them.  When I ding’d 70 I had the cash to buy an epic mount straight away.

And I picked up this beauty…

Red Drake RTW

Regardless of their color, I really love the way the drakes look.  I REALLY want an Azure drake from Malygos10 but I doubt I’ll see that anytime soon.

Did you know that s.priests can’t solo Zul’gurub?  I’ve been duo’ing ZG with a few people every 3 days, working on the tiger and raptor mounts but haven’t seen either yet.  Duo’ing heroic Magister’s Terrace and Karazhan for those mounts as well.  The only one I’ve ever seen drop was a raptor, and that was preTBC.  I’m not holding my breath for those.

Oh well… back to my Argent Tourney dailies /cry.

Mountain O’ Mounts 30/100

April 11, 2009

Since the last update I have spent some money and bought the rest of my Nether Rays from the Skyguards.  With 3.1 looming on the horizon we’ve fleshed out our raid schedule and it doesn’t leave much time for the tier 7 content.  We already do Naxx25 & Malygos25 on fridays in a bit under 4hrs and Sarth 3D in about 2-3hrs.

When 3.1 goes live Ulduar will take our two main raiding days, Friday night and Saturday afternoon.  We’ll be moving Naxx25 / Malygos25 / Sarth25 to Sunday in a 4-5hr raid.  People are going to want to take their alts to Tier 7 content, which I’m fine with but there’s no way we’re gonna be doing Sarth 3D.

This left me with one option, to blow my load of pts and buy…..

Twilight Drake from Sartharion25 +3

Twilight Drake from Sartharion25 +3

I’m absolutely in love with him.  Its kind of funny though cuz I sit cockeyed, so when you look at me from the front I’m hanging off the drakes left side.  Oh well, he’s still uber looking!

Random Update #83

March 8, 2009

This update brought you by my laptop.

My desktop is currently having some issues.  My power supply was making a grinding noise, the kind I’d imagine you hear when they make ground beef /shudder.  I replaced it and thought that was solved.  I somehow managed to mess up my CPU fan though as I can’t get it to stay attached to the motherboard.  When it comes loose my CPU overheats and autoturns off to prevent it from burning itself out.  I don’t know though if thats the reason that when it does stay on that my video card stops responding (ATI said its either overheating, not enough power, bad memory, or any plethora of other things).  /shrug

Anyway…..

I hadn’t planned on updating my mounts total for awhile but I’m up to 29/100 now.  I bought the rest of my Nether Ray’s from the Skyguard and managed to pickup a rather rare mount.

Archavon 25's Grand Black War Mammoth!

Archavon 25's Grand Black War Mammoth!

I almost poop’d myself when I saw it on the corpse.  I hadn’t spent any of my DKP for quite some time and unloaded a fuckton of it to win this.  I thought I had saved myself 20k by getting this guy but he doesn’t come w/the vendors.  He does have 2 extra seats though so I’m happy with that!  We also just finished,

Achievement: For The Alliance!

Achievement: For The Alliance!

…the achievement is, “For The Alliance!” and requires you to kill the four horde leaders.  We did it in about an hour which was way faster then I expected at at 5pm server time.  I was hoping for a bit more of a resistance from the Horde but they put up none.

Power Word: Barrier was recently brought up, and GC made a reply to it…

We’d still like to do Barrier, but some of the revamps ended up more extensive than we planned. At this point we’d rather make what we have taste good instead of throwing new ingredients into the stew, but it’s an idea we still like.

I’ve gotten over the Rapture changes and had managed to get excited about relearning my current healing style.  This makes me sad though.  I was really looking forward to this spell and I hope they hear the outcry and try to get it to working properly.  I really loved the idea of the spell and I think it would really help discipline out a lot.

Another exciting thing to note is that we’ve made some serious progress on Sartharion +3.  We were really worried at first because we don’t have a Druid or Death Knight which is pretty much required for the fight.  We have been using the ‘frowned upon’ method of having a Demonologist Warlock’s Voidwalker tank Sartharion.  If the Warlock spec’s deep demonology and puts on heavy stamina gear then the Warlock’s Voidwalker has insane amount of HP.  Our Warlock’s Voidwalker had about 55k hp with just fort / kings on it and a Discipline Priest was able to solo heal him.

It was REALLY exciting trying it this way, because you can position Sartharion in a spot thats farther away then normal allowing for more movement room.  I’ll go into more specifics tomorrow since I’ve already rambled on enough tonight!

Mountain o’ Mounts (23/100)

March 2, 2009

3.1 is still probably a month or two away so in the meantime I’m having to find other ways to occupy my time.  I’ve been slowly working towards the Mountain o’ Mounts achievement.  I already had a few of the PvP mounts obtained from back in the day so I figured I would finish those up.  I’ve been doing lots of battlegrounds (Arathi Basin, Warsong Gulch, and Alterac Valley) in my freetime.  The Arathi Basin and Warsong Gulch marks were actually kind of fun to obtain.  I’m not a heavy PvPer as it tends to send me into a whole new realm of pissed off but those two battlegrounds weren’t so bad.  Alterac Valley though has been, insane amounts of pain.

In my battle group the Alliance has decided that going in there is a waste of time.  Almost every match in AV I did was 10 alliance v. 40 horde.  While I’m not advocating standing AFK in a any battleground… in this instance I’m totally fine with it.  I obtained 150 AV Marks of Honor, one at a time.  I still needed about 20 last night when I realized it was AV weekend.  I zoned in and found 40 alliance v 20 horde.  I nearly pee’d myself.  I promptly finished off the last AV marks I needed and bought my last pvp mount.

A lot of free time.

A lot of free time.

That pic is a bit tiny but from left to right, Black War Mammoth, Elekk, Ram, AV Ram, Horse, Strider, and Kitty.  I’ve got a raid scheduled this coming Sunday to get the For The Alliance! achievement.  You kill all 4 of the Horde city leaders and you get a black bear out of it.  I think the mount is ugly but whatever, it just adds to the number!

I’ve also been putting together about 10-15 random friends to go do AQ40.  I’m surprised at just how easy it is.  The only fights that have proven any difficulty is the big slime guy, we usually don’t do him cuz you have to do a certain number of melee hits or something when he freezes.  You also have to do a lot of frost damage to him to get him to freeze and sometimes we don’t have someone who can do that.  After that you have the Twin Emps which is still a slightly difficult fight.  It helps immensely if you have 2 paladins who can tank them.

If they get to close to each other they begin to heal.  They start off on seperate sides of the room and periodically teleport.  When they teleport they switch positions and reset aggro, often running across the room into each other, healing.  One of the Emp’s is immune to physical while the other is immune to magic.  Paladins trivialize this because they do aggro both ways which makes it easier for them to pickup the Emp.  After that is an easy boss then C’thun which is a relatively easy fight but you usually endup wiping once while the new people are understanding what the foo is going on.

Last night though, at about midnight I got my last two bugs though, blue and green.

Ahn'Qiraj Mounts

Ahn'Qiraj Mounts

They’re so pretty!  I wish I had been in high-end gaming back in the day so I could have a black one, but oh well!

I still don’t have the Netherwing or Talbuk reputations to get all those mounts.  I’m kind of dreading doing it really.  I will probably wait until 3.1 to start the Talbuk grind since I will have shadow as my dual spec.

Back to camping for new 3.1 infoz!
