Sundering Subtypes

Have you been sitting on your bank alt, watching guild chat scroll by and noticed something strange? Maybe you were tinkering around on a new toon and you got a tingle when you stepped through the haze of new. No, it’s not puberty or your herpes flaring up, its new ways of playing WoW.

Several new stereotypes seem to have spawned in the WoW universe since the Cataclysm rocked the world.

1. Nerd Hoarders – As the name implies they are massing nerd points for the day they can be turned in to win the game. They are usually quiet people, so engrossed in finishing quests their text scrolls by in streaks. Even when you do get them to talk it seems like a foreign language. Those not native to the land of achievements might not have any idea what they are talking about.

Since the coming of the Cataclysm they have been exceedingly easy to spot. Almost all of them can be found in a zone no level 80 should be for more than a few minutes. Your guild main tank running around in Wetlands for the last 2 hours… yep, he’s a nerd hoarder.

2. Alt-Keeper: Since the shaking of the barrens you might have noticed some peoples mains no longer exist. These people existed long before the Cataclysm but were only talked about in hushed corners or whispered about on blogs.

They are a new breed of altaholics birthed from the Cataclysm. They have replaced those mains with a gaggle of alts bearing similar names. They multiply the number of toons in your guild and spam your chatbox with character hopping.

3. Zombies: This one is pretty self explanatory. Zombies are the people you haven’t seen in months. They were dead, buried and gone. They weren’t coming back to WoW but the Sundering has split open those graves and people are flooding back in faster than the Wetlands filled up.

Zombies are commonly seen disguised as Alt-Keepers or Nerd Hoarders.

These are just some of the new types of WoW players you might have seen patrolling the landscape.

Heirlooms… the anti fun

Awhile ago I started a 2nd priest to level up (the reasons are explained in that post).  I kept leveling and did an update on it, but I didn’t make it much farther past that.  I got to level 30, got ready to take my screen shot, and I still looked the same.  That wasn’t the only downside though, I was face rolling everything.  Granted I knew my class far better than someone new to the game did but the heirloom gear put me REALLY far ahead of the game.

In fact, it was making the game less fun for me.  There was no challenge.

Why did you make another priest?

xeoneo13cYea, thats the question everyone keeps asking me over and over and over.  Let me explain.

I raid with 3 different toons.  My 80 holy / disc priest, my dual wield frost DK, and my resto shaman.  Everytime I raid with my shaman or my DK though I think to myself, man, I’d rather be on my priest.

so… I started another priest.

Does anyone else have that problem?  You are raiding on your alt and wishing you were on your main.  Why not just make another toon that is the same?

/shrug

People just laugh… but it totally makes sense to me.  Lots of people raid on more than one toon.  I just don’t like my other toons as much as I like my priest… so I want to raid with two of them.

I was gonna go dwarf, but I figured I should try something… different.  I went with Human for the spirit and increased rep gain racials.  I’m also going to go smithing and pickup mining so I can level that as I go along.  At 80 I will drop mining and switch him to JCing.

This priest is going to be everything my other priest is not (only he’s going to be uglier because he’s not dwarf).

He’s lvl 13 ATM… gotta get back to the grind!  Which is about a billion times easier now than when I did it.  Especially since I understand the mechanics better.  I’m all spirit and intellect.  Gonna go down the shadow tree of course (I leveled holy the first time around).  He has the same orange hair that my dwarf has and I gave him a seksy 80 ‘stache!

AND he’s great fodder for blog updates, cuz ya know… everyone wants to know about my leveling exploits right?
