I quit playing WoW back in April so it is unlikely that this will ever be updated again. I’ll leave it up until Cataclysm for those that still use it and best of luck all. Go heal the shit out of some peeps!

The following is a list intended as a guide to gearing your Discipline Priest. The math for the stat weights can be found here, courtesy Bobturkey’s very high math skill.
Q: How are items ranked?
A: Each stat is assigned a value. These values are then added together and you come up with a score. The higher the score, the better the item.
Q: What about sockets?
A: Gems are scored as well. Any item with sockets will have the appropriate information out beside it to denote what gem was used in the scoring. Sockets had a matching gem.
Socketing Notes:
- Yellow and Blue sockets went for mana regen instead of throughput for a better balance in your gear.
- Socket Bonuses were not included in the final weight since several items from Icecrown Citadel do not have a known socket bonus.
Red: Runed Cardinal Ruby
Yellow: Luminous Ametrine
Blue: Seer’s Eye of Zul
Meta: There are multiple options for Discipline Priest meta gems, the 3 most common are listed below in order of popularity. Insightful Earthsiege is considered the best for mana regen but personally I go with the Ember Skyflare (because I’m a mana whore).

Personally i’ve never seen the point when you can use the filters on WowHead or LootRank, but some people swear by fixed lists.
Interestingly best-in-slot staves are now better than BIS main/off hand combos if you ignore the legendary mace.
Great list, and not just because it looks like mine.
@Bobturkey – Thanks for the weights! I used the WoW Head filters like cloth lvl 80 that a priest can wear that has spell power but no hit or resilience. It brought it up in a list which made it easier to mouseover the item and copy the stats to a spreadsheet.
I was REALLY surprised that a couple of the staves came out so well on point values. Mind you the Staff from Hodir25 Hard is NOT by any means easy to get though.

Havent checked it at all. But i had a look at the head-pieces … and there seems to be something wrong, because the best item should be the T8-Head from the Shadowset. Its not even metioned (or am i blind?)

@jedimax – I haven’t checked the numbers honestly. I for sure left anything out with +hit on it so if one of ‘em had that it was chunked. On any of the other pieces I felt that the healy set bonuses were easily worth their weight to keep around over picking up the shadow pieces.
For some reason, Lootrank only gives Faces of Doom a 73.6464 so it’s not on the Offhand list. But with 42 intellect, 42 spirit, 42 crit, and 49 spellpower, shouldn’t it be a 95.3484? I’m really not certain why Lootrank hates Faces of Doom.
@daemia – I think your right. LootRank is excluding spell power for Faces of Doom.
Including SP puts it up around 95 to 100 which is about rank 10 on the list.
